Camping @ Big Bear Lake

The Marshall's have finally experienced camping together in Big Bear! What an experience to remember! We went with Gramma Kay & John and it really was a great time to bond. We left on Sunday and came home on Tuesday so it was a short trip, but another day in the dirt might have just given me a panick attack. LOL! The trip up there (which was just a three hour drive) was beautiful, although Arden got car sick driving up the mountain. Once we started up Big Bear Mt. Arden was in full car-sick mode. We had to stop a few times to clean up and make sure she was OK. Once we finally got up the mountain, she was ready to have fun!

The weather was PERFECT! Low 70's during the day and high 40's at night. A little chilly compared to San Diego weather, but the fire made everything nice and toasty. Of course, we had to make smores. You can't go camping without smores!

We had a really great camp site at the Serrano Campgrounds, although one downside was we were pretty close to the highway and it kind of took away from the camping experience. We all took a walk around the campgrounds and picked out some even better camp sites so the next time we go we'll be far away from the highway and we'll also have more shade. Another great feature of the campgrounds was RUNNING WATER! PHEW! Clean hands and clean dishes. Thank goodness.

This was our tent. Small for three people, but it did the job! Luckily, we had an air mattress but honestly, it would've been better without one. It just took up too much floor space.

And, camping just isn't complete without a little dirt. As we were packing up, Arden decided to take a 'dirt bath'. She used her pail and shovel to douse herself in some dirt. Notice her show a little leg to reveal the dirt line? Yep, now this is camping!
