1. Vocalization - he's saying lots of new words! A few are: banana, uh oh, no, shoes, cheerios, shoes
He's also shaking & nodding his head. He knows what he wants! He'll also grab my hand and lead me to whatever he wants. Honestly, it's a god send because he whines a lot less. hehehe ;)
2. Gross Motor Skills: well, he's been walking since he was 10 months but lately he's been climbing, trying to run, climbing stairs and using his arms to lift his body.
3. Fine Motor Skills: he's been making great strides with these skills. He helps put toys away, stacks blocks (although his fave is knocking them down!), filling up and dumping out, scribbling with sidewalk chalk or crayons, and trying to put his shoes on. He also plays with toy cars/trucks and slides them across the floor as if to 'drive' them.
Obviously, he learns a lot from watching Arden. He mimicks EVERYTHING she does. He wants to do whatever an older child does. And he doesn't have any fear. No concept of consequence what-so-ever.
His new thing is hitting. He'll slap me right in the face, hit the dog or pull a lock of Arden's hair out. It's been tough to discipline this type of behavior at this age. We've just started with minute-long timeouts and he seems to understand it (as much as a 1 year old can) because he sits there - which is longer than he sits ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME. I try and show him how to be gentle but he doesn't seem to grasp that concept. I sure hope that doesn't last!
