Arden has wanted a kitty cat for quite some time now. When we have more room, we'll get her that kitty cat but for now she can only dream about it. We have also discussed with her the difference between 'indoor' and 'outdoor' cats. We explained that the kitty will be safer if it's an indoor cat - possibly saving it from the mouth of a coyote (there are A LOT of coyotes where we live). We've seen poor pet cats & bunnies ripped to shreds in our neighborhood - so she is well aware of the coyote population.
Arden: "Mom, can coyotes climb trees?"
Me: "No, honey. Luckily, they can't."
Arden: "Well, what if my kitty climbs a tree to get away from a coyote and the coyote uses a 'coyote pogo stick' to jump up the tree and get my kitty cat?"
Me: "Unlikely, dear. I don't think they make pogo sticks for coyotes."
Arden: "Oh OK, that's good."
