On A Mission: Buying Our First Home

Purchasing our first home is a huge milestone!  One that requires a lot of patience, sacrifice, time and of course, money.  Ironically, we don't have many of the above so it's been a daunting task.  We've spent most of the last month or so looking at homes - and believe me - there have been some doozies.  On the brighter side - there have been a few homes worth putting offers on.  Needless to say, we are still 'homeless' (that is, without our own home) and today was just another let down.  We lost the house we really had our hearts set on.  Oh well, there's always another one, right?!

We are very blessed to have a roof over our heads, food on the table and clothes on our backs.  We aren't in any rush so we have that on our side.  We live in a great area of San Diego with wonderful schools.  However, we aren't able to purchase a home in the area we live in.  We are ready to  make a change and move our family on to the next chapter of our lives.  We just know that it will take time (patience is the key word here!) and a lot of lows but we are very motivated.

Unfortunately, in today's market (especially in Southern California) we have hit a few walls.  LOTS of foreclosures and short sales on the market right now.  Which is great for getting a great deal on a home, but this market is highly competitive.  We are bidding against investors who are ready to put cash only down and swoop in and take our dream home from right under our feet.  We are first time home buyers who'll probably get an FHA loan.  Another bump in the road for us when it comes to bidding against investors or people who already own a home.  It's a bit unfair for regular folks like us, but we are determined to find the right home for our family.  We have kept this mentality through the highs and lows: "Whatever happens is meant to be."  Something I have to remind myself each time we lose out on a house.

With a clean slate (once again) we will forge ahead and find the perfect home.  We know it's in our near future.  We can almost taste it.
